ERIK kits

What is an E.R.I.K. kit?

E.R.I.K. is an Emergency Response Information Kit developed by the Boni-Vital Council for Seniors, Winnipeg, Manitoba, in response to community concerns regarding the availability of adequate information in emergency situations. All area emergency groups have endorsed this program. Once completed the kit provides the necessary information for emergency personnel to respond quickly to your situation.

The kit is ideal for seniors, chronically ill persons, those who live alone or who have caregivers, and others who have speech difficulties or communications barriers. You may want to take a copy of E.R.I.K. with you when you travel, or go to the hospital in a non-emergency situation.

The outside plastic sleeve of the E.R.I.K. package has magnets so that it can be stored on the front of your fridge. A red sticker accompanies the package which is to be placed on the outside of your main door of your house or apartment.

The E.R.I.K. also contains the following:

  1. Medication List
  2. Health Information Card,
  3. An organ and tissue donation card,
  4. E.R.I.K.® Information pamphlet,
  5. Patient Advocate Form,
  6. Health Care Directive.

Funding for E.R.I.K. is provided by the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation and Victoria Landing.
